David E. Golan, M.D., Ph.D., is the George R. Minot Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and the Dean for research initiatives and global programs. He is a professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, and a senior physician in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Golan founded and directed the core course in pharmacology at HMS from 1989 to 2006. He currently co-directs a translational pharmacology course that brings together Ph.D. students in the Therapeutics Graduate Program with M.D. fellows in the Master of Medical Sciences Program in Clinical Investigation at HMS. He is editor-in-chief of Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy, an award-winning textbook of pharmacology, now in its 5th edition.

Dr. Golan holds an A.B. in Chemistry, summa cum laude, from Harvard University, an M.D. from the Yale University School of Medicine, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and in hematology.
